It’s a busy time of the year for NFTE Philadelphia. In-school business plan competitions just concluded at the 15 schools where the NFTE program is taught in Philadelphia. And finalists from that round are ramping up for the semi- and final-rounds of competition which will be held on May 25th and June 7th, respectively. Please visit NFTE Philadelphia’s Facebook Page for more information.

In the meantime, NFTE Philadelphia just announced that this year’s Annual Visionary Gala will be held on November 17th from 6-10pm at Vie, Cescaphé Group’s new venue, 600 North Broad Street in Philadelphia. This year’s honoree is Michael G. Rubin, successful entrepreneur and founder of GSI Commerce (Nasdaq: GSIC).  Recently, eBay announced that it agreed to buy GSI Commerce for approximately $2.4 billion.

“Michael Rubin represents the true spirit and determination of an entrepreneur,” said NFTE Philadelphia Executive Director, Sylvia McKinney. “Making his first business deal at the age of 12, Michael is a true inspiration to our students. He leads by example and is committed to innovation and entrepreneurship in all that he does, both personally and professionally. It is an honor that Michael is accepting this award and we look forward to hosting a tremendous event in November.”

As we get closer to the event, additional details will be provided. In the meantime, stay up-to-date on news and events by becoming a fan of NFTE Philadelphia’s Facebook Page.
