Week in Review: The Supreme Court’s Healthcare Ruling, ThingWorx Partners with Smart Structures, and Bridgevine Names JP Bewley CEO
Posted by | June 29, 2012
Yesterday the Supreme Court upheld most of the Affordable Care Act, a decision that garnered a flurry of supporters and detractors who filled news reports debating the merits and flaws of the ruling. And of course the media highlighted how the law would affect citizens, various industries, and businesses large and small.
So how does the ruling impact startups and VCs? Some observers think the ruling will spark M&A activity to meet greater demand for healthcare services. Others note that, regardless of the ruling, sectors like healthcare IT are growing to help control costs and improve patient care. And perhaps rapidly advancing technology, rather than legislation, is the quickest path to available and affordable healthcare. Safeguard is certainly committed to building great companies that lead the way toward a more effective health system and better patient care.
Stay tuned to the Safeguard blog as we follow the actual impact of the Affordable Care Act on innovation in life sciences.
