A Look Ahead: Congress Returns to Work to Face the Fiscal Cliff

Congress heads back to Washington this week after its Thanksgiving recess, with just five weeks remaining to reach a compromise and resolve the “fiscal cliff.” If Congress fails to act, the resulting tax increases and spending cuts could trigger another recession, according to the Congressional Budget Office. Though few think Congress would let this happen, many are waiting for the exact details of a potential deal and their implications for growing businesses and VCs.
As Congress returns to work, so too do Safeguard and our partner companies. Here’s where you can find us in the next couple weeks:
- Nov. 25-30: ThingWorx is currently attending RSNA 2012 in Chicago.
- Nov. 27: Safeguard President and CEO Steve Zarrilli will present at the Philadelphia Securities Association Luncheon in Philadelphia. This will be Steve’s first major presentation as CEO.
- Nov. 27: Safeguard’s Phil Moyer will lead a webinar titled “The VC Market and Opportunities for XBRL Applications,” part of a free webinar series for potential contestants of the XBRL Challenge.
- Nov. 29: Steve Zarrilli will speak at the J.P. Morgan SMid Cap Conference in New York. You can watch the presentation via webcast.
- Dec. 6-7: NovaSom will head to the Healthcare Education Systems Smoky Mountain Symposium III in Sevierville, Tenn.
