In 1953, the term “venture capitalist” was a foreign concept. That didn’t stop Pete Musser and Frank Diamond from starting Lancaster Corporation on September 11, 1953 to engage in the development of high-growth industries with a capital base of $300,000.

Sixty years and countless success stories later, Safeguard Scientifics has built a robust, enduring presence in the Greater Philadelphia area and beyond. 2013 marked the company’s Diamond Anniversary, 60 years of building enduring value. The year-long celebration served as a forum through which the entire Safeguard network—current and past—could convene in celebration of Safeguard’s successful track record and bright future.
