Drivers of our Economic Engine: Safeguard Scientifics’ Inc. 500|5000 Partner Companies
Posted by | September 2, 2011
It’s no secret that fast-growing, private start-up companies are a catalyst for new job creation. According to Inc., more than 370,592 jobs have been created in the last three years by companies who were listed on the Inc. 5000 — a list of the 5000 fastest growing small companies. In comparison, companies on the Fortune 500 shed 821,000 jobs in 2009 alone.
Originally founded as “The Inc. 500” 30 years ago, the list was expanded to 5,000 companies five year ago, and has since been recognized as the distinguished award for fast-growing companies. Frequently referred to as the Fortune 500 for private companies, prominent brands such as Microsoft, Zappos, and Zipcar gained early exposure as members of this list.
We are proud to announce that for two of Safeguard’s current partner companies, the list has become familiar territory. AdvantEdge Healthcare Solutions (AHS) was ranked for the third consecutive year while Bridgevine made its fourth consecutive appearance. In addition, Safeguard alum and recent success story Advanced BioHealing ranked #187, representing 1604 percent growth between 2007-2010. This is a true testament to our partner companies’ continued growth and achievements.
About AdvantEdge Healthcare Solutions
AHS continues to grow by helping their clients prepare for the imminent reform of our healthcare system. There are a lot of questions facing the healthcare industry, from the continuing financial pressures on physicians, to the increasing complexity introduced by tying payment and reimbursement, to patient outcomes. AHS is working diligently with their clients to reduce complexity with solutions that simplify new billing and coding requirements, while assisting customers through the implementation process.
As a result of these efforts, AHS is ranked #1029 this year on the Inc. 5000, with sales in 2010 a full 296 percent higher than 2007 sales. The company has seen great momentum over the past few years, acquiring four companies since 2009. In addition to its ranking on the Inc. 5000, AHS was also ranked #70 on the Health Industry list and #81 on the list for the New York City region.
