A Look Ahead: Hurricane Sandy Halts Stock Market, Safeguard Speaking Events

Posted by | October 29, 2012

The big story this week is Hurricane Sandy, which will shut down most of the Mid-Atlantic region today and potentially the next few days. A number of events have already been cancelled, including a Google Android event and two Facebook events. Even the NYSE and Nasdaq shut down today. If you’re in Sandy’s path, stay safe out there!

Next week the Safeguard team will be participating in a number of events. On Friday, Nov. 2, Jim O’Connell will moderate a panel titled “Nurting the Next Wave of Startups” at the NVCA Corporate Venture Group Fall Summit 2012 in Wilmington, Del. Next week, on Nov. 8, we’ll be at NYVCA INGENUITY 2012 in New York, an invitation-only event that brings together VCs and high-potential emerging growth companies.

That same day, Phil Moyer and Jim Datin will speak at IMPACT 2012. Phil will join a panel exploring the current financing environment for technology companies, and Jim will moderate a session titled “Aligning Incentives: Current Health Care Challenges Require a New Game Plan,” which will discuss obstacles and incentives for bringing new innovations to healthcare.

And on Nov. 9, Gary Kurtzman will present at CapitalOnStage NYC 2012, where companies like Safeguard present themselves to entrepreneurs and describe their views on the market, what they’re looking for, and what they add besides money.

There are a number of other events ahead too. Don’t miss them!

Head to our media center for all the details on upcoming events for Safeguard and our partner companies.
